Col Naweed Kawusi (ret.) brings a versatile background to the table having led multi-sector and complex projects and programs with United Nations, international aid agencies, private sector in a civilian capacity and leading strategic and multifaceted national programs with international partners supporting the Afghanistan National Defense and Security Forces in a military capacity before the fall of Kabul in the hands of Taliban.

Previously, Col Kawusi was director general for the Afghanistan National Police’s Veterans’ Affairs department overseeing support and outreach to over 130 thousand police families across the 34 provinces of Afghanistan. During this posting, he transformed the benefits and assistance program for police families from paper-based to digital and saved millions of Afghanis from risk and ensured that all the families of police personnel received legal, financial, education and health support. Before that, he was the director for international cooperation for ANP where he was responsible for fundraising, strategic program development, and donor coordination with the 22-nation Law and Order Trust Fund (LOTFA).
